To mark the birthday of the English gentleman Mark Watson, the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum will host a special programme at Glaumbær on 18 July 🎉
The event is held in collaboration with the Icelandic Sheepdog Centre, and we encourage visitors to stop by there on this special day 🐕
Watson was a great friend of Iceland, and we have much to thank him for, including his generous financial contribution towards the restoration of the old turf farm at Glaumbær in 1938, which played an important role in preserving the farm. Watson has also been called the saviour of the Icelandic Sheepdog, and his birthday is celebrated as “Icelandic Sheepdog Day” 🐾🇮🇸
To celebrate the occasion, owners of Icelandic Sheepdogs accompanied by their dogs receive free admission to the museum 🐕
☕️ The museum café in Áshús will offer treats for both people and dogs 🐶🍰
🎟️ Admission is free for children under 18, and we remind residents registered in Skagafjörður about the annual pass, which is valid for one year from purchase regardless of the number of visits.
💚 Welcome to Glaumbær! 🌿
