J.Bernardt, the solo project of Jinte Deprez (Balthazar), releases his new single, Four In The Morning, via Play It Again Sam.

The upbeat, moody pop song feels like a euphoric haze: manic and captivating, driven by pulsating drums, sprawling synths and sultry vocals. It marks his first new release since 2024.Four In The Morningreflects the evolution of J.Bernardt into a fully-fledged artistic universe with its own trajectory and ambitions. Written and recorded at 64 Sound Studio in Los Angeles, it finds Jinte working far from familiar routines.

There, he teamed up with producer Paul Butler (MichaelKiwanuka, Devendra Banhart), whose free-flowing approach encouraged spontaneity and led Jinte to find his most liberated vocal performance to date.Butler's joyous production style and the uninhibited energy of Los Angeles run through the song from start to finish. The result is a track that retains J.Bernardt’s trademark sound, only more playful and reckless. It tells the story of someone reaching a moment of clarity at four in the morning—whether intoxicated, sober, or somewhere in between is left deliberately unresolved

A studio auteur and musical inventor, Deprez crafts an album that explores every phase of a breakup—shock, sadness, anger, denial, hurt, and acceptance—perfectly capturing a ‘viciously romantic’ essence. Best known as one half of the singer-songwriter duo behind Balthazar, one of Belgium’s most beloved and respected alt-rock bands for over two decades, Deprez continues to push
