JOEP BEVING - LIMINAL
Lutheran Free Church, Fríkirkjuvegur 5, 101 Reykjavík Directions
Thu 10.09.2026 20:00
As one of the most important pianists of our time with more than billion streaming in total, Joep Beving will give an exclusive concert at Fríkirkjan í Reykjavík.
Dutch composer and pianist Joep Beving returns to the stage in 2026 with a new album and a new series of performances shaped by the ideas and musical explorations he has been developing in recent years. His focus on themes such as change, uncertainty and renewal has led him to search for ways in which sound can create space for reflection and connection in a world that often feels in flux.
Known for his reflective and spacious piano work, Joep’s latest material — featured on his forthcoming album — moves with a sense of openness and curiosity. It balances structure and intuition, often feeling guided by both the human hand and something more organic. The pieces invite listeners into moments of stillness, movement and contemplation, where clarity and ambiguity can coexist.
These concerts bring Joep’s evolving musical language to an intimate live setting, offering audiences the first chance to experience the atmosphere and ideas that shape his new album.
Joep Beving will tour internationally throughout 2026.
Special guest this night is Sóley Stefánsdóttir Sóley
Few artists balance fragility and fearlessness quite like Sóley Stefánsdóttir. The Icelandic songwriter, composer, and producer has spent more than a decade and a half crafting music that slips between dark pop, contemporary classical, and cinematic sound design.

Born in Hafnarfjörður Iceland, Sóley Stefánsdóttir has attracted a cult following with her fairytale song-craft. Sóley’s fantastical sepia-toned alt-pop tunes continued with the release of her debut full-length album We Sink in 2011. Receiving acclaim through her delicate compositions, soaked in dream-like qualities & dark surrealism, her song Pretty Face would go on to generate an enormous amount of buzz & legions of converts.
Having studied piano & composition at the Icelandic Art Academy, Sóley released the EP Krómantík in 2014, comprised of piano works originally composed for various theater & film productions, & returned to even darker, nocturnal themes with sophomore album Ask The Deep, which came out in early 2015. Following its release, she once again toured the world & supported John Grant for his UK shows in early 2016.
On releasing her third album Endless Summer in Summer 2017, she left the darkness of Ask The Deep behind & focused on more organic acoustic arrangements. Endless Summer was written and recorded over the span of 12 months with long-time friend & collaborator Albert Finnbogason. 2017 through 2018 saw Sóley collaborate with Sin Fang & múm’s Örvar Smárason under the moniker Team Dreams & as of Fall 2018.
Sóley published her fourth solo album Harmonik in 2020 and the album Mother Melancholia in 2021. The album’s release was be supported & accompanied by an extensive run of European shows throughout 2021.
