Japanese workshop

Reykjavik City Library Spöngin, Spöngin 41, 112 Reykjavík Directions

Thu 20.08.2026 16:00

For children aged 9–12.
In the Japanese workshop, we first get to know the writing systems hiragana and katakana, learn to write our names, and introduce ourselves in Japanese. After that, we watch an episode of anime and play a vocabulary bingo game where we find Japanese words that appear in the episode.
There will be small prizes for those who get bingo!
The workshop instructor is the visual artist, Heiðrún Gréta Viktorsdóttir. She studied Japanese language and culture at the University of Iceland and spent one year as an exchange student in Japan. She has has experience teaching Japanese in elementary school and enjoys encouraging participants in their interests in Japanese culture.
Participation is free of charge and registration is required.
