During the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Girls In Airports and the string trio Halvcirkel invite you to two exclusive concerts at Xenon in Huset on Magstræde.

The concerts are based on Imaginal, the collaborative work where Nordic string sounds meet Girls In Airports’ characteristic rhythmic and melodic universe. The music moves between jazz, ambient, folk, and chamber music, unfolding in an open space between structure and intuition.

Imaginal took shape over a year and a half through long sessions in Copenhagen, where the seven musicians developed a shared language marked by trust, curiosity, and the desire to let the music take the time it needs.

Jazznyt called the album “one of Girls In Airports’ strongest releases” and described the meeting between the two ensembles as a journey “where you hold each other’s hands and, along the way, meet in spirit.”

This collaboration has also proven to be something special in a live setting. In a review from Vinterjazz 2026, Gaffa wrote that the meeting between Girls In Airports and Halvcirkel was “a perfect match,” and that the music came across as “innovative and visionary, free from restrictive constraints.”

360-degree setup

In Xenon’s theater hall, the concerts are staged in a 360-degree setup, with the audience seated close around the musicians. Here, the collaboration has the opportunity to unfold in an intimate and spatial format, where the details of the interplay come clearly to the fore, and where the work can be experienced up close.

The two concerts offer a rare opportunity to experience Imaginal live in a format where the work’s tranquility, weight, and movement can all be clearly felt.
