bloodsportsTaking over sweaty New York venues and curbside congregations, bloodsports has become an undeniable force with their latest lineup—Sam Murphy (guitar/vocals), Jeremy Mock (guitar), Liv Eriksen (bass/vocals), and Scott Hale (drums)—finding solace in sonic strain where angular sedition collides with economical melodies that ease the weight of self-destruction. Their long-awaited debut album Anything Can Be A Hammer marks a bold evolution, embracing a more dynamic, mature approach as the band balances experimentation and curiosity with rhythmic blows and emotional depth; fragile yet abundant, the record leans into patience and interior tension, with Murphy’s lyricism blurring the line between what we know and what we think we know—it’s an album with blood in its veins and a finger on the pulse. The release quickly caught fire with praise from Stereogum, Vice, Alternative Press, Consequence, and more, leading to a support slot on They Are Gutting A Body of Water’s sold-out album release show and performances alongside Starcleaner Reunion and Brutus VII. In 2026, the Brooklyn four-piece is set to take their hard-hitting live show to SXSW, across the country, and around the world.

dainedaine.lnk.to
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Filipino-Australian artist daine is the new soundtrack for a disillusioned generation navigating life in an unforgiving world. Harbouring an almost obsessive passion for midwestern emo and skramz in the likes of Tigers Jaw, William Bonney, American Football and more, daine takes those references from the past and transposes them to something more future facing. Harnessing all the emotion that comes from those early 00s icons, Daine blends those wrought atmospheres with contemporary hip hop production and a saccharine vocal that provides a bittersweet edge.
An artist born from a DIY ethos and an underground mentality, daine began writing music alone in her room after being inspired by shows from the likes of Turnstile, Basement, Jesus Piece and Code Orange, and credits the hardcore and metal scene in Melbourne for its camaraderie at a time when she felt isolated socially from those that she went to school with. Her first two singles ‘Picking Flowers’ and ‘My Way Out’ are perfect counterparts to reflect this desolation, with ‘My Way Out’’s dissociative euphoria providing a respite for ‘Picking Flowers’ – a devastating display of goth-tinged pop.
Within her music, daine is writing her own personal diary, and the story is taking shape with every note. -

Freak SlugThe name Freak Slug encapsulates Xenya Genovese’s artistic world perversely and perfectly. Her releases under the name so far - debut 2020 EP Videos and its viral hit “Radio” (15 million streams and counting), and follow-up EPs I’m In Love (2022) and Viva La Vulva (2023) - might have introduced listeners to a “more summery, happy, LA sound”, but with the advent of debut album I Blow Out Big Candles, this Slug is burrowing down into evermore unlikely places. As she accurately points out: “The name is giving more grunge than joy”.
Hugely influenced by ‘90s cult heroes including Ride, Mazzy Star and Stephen Malkmus, Freak Slug is all about hitting a mood. Everything that fuels her creative output is raw, authentic, sometimes weird, but always totally true self-expression. I Blow Out Big Candles is a strong statement of all of this and more. Down there, picking through the curious mix of sounds and feelings, from nostalgic, 90s-influenced and dreamy as well as eccentric and experimental, lives Freak Slug.

zzzahara
Plenty of people come to Los Angeles looking to make their California dreams a reality. But zzzahara has always been here, turning reality into a dream. Born and raised in Highland Park, where they still reside, zzzahara (the solo moniker of ex-Eyedress/Simps guitarist Zahara Jaime) has witnessed both gang-blighted and gentrified L.A. along the same geographical blocks. Like the transforming city itself, zzzahara has undergone massive personal changes, their characteristic stoicism giving way to a newfound sense of purpose. Liminal Spaces, their debut LP from Lex Records, explores a life hanging in the balance between memory and possibility over frenetic Johnny Marr-esque guitar jangle.
Evolving stylistically, maturing emotionally, and yet still attached to a past scorched by trauma and old flames, zzzahara brings pop sensibility and hi-fi quality to Liminal Spaces that makes their work appealing to anyone and everyone: young and old; straight and queer; introverts and extroverts; the hardened L.A. locals and the daydreaming transplants.
