  • Europe
    Europe

Over three decades and dozens of millions albums sold, Joey Tempest (vocals), John Norum (guitars), Mic Michaeli (keyboards), John Leven (bass) and Ian Haugland (drums) as hardworking as ever, annually performing concerts worldwide and producing albums that are critically acclaimed by fans and the music industry alike.

It all started in a small suburb outside of Stockholm, Sweden. Joey and John met and formed the band Force. They both were into British rock bands like Thin Lizzy and UFO. Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple also made an immense impact on these teenagers. They recorded their first demos when they were only 16 and 17 years old. Record companies turned them down, saying “the guitars were too loud and their hair was too long′. But armed with the new name Europe they proved everybody wrong. They won a rock band competition and the first prize was a recording contract. When “Europe” was released in 1983, kids in Sweden and Japan really identified with their music.

The second album ′Wings of Tomorrow′ gained attention from all over the world. Notably from Epic Records, New York (now Sony Music) who got interested and signed a five album million dollar contract.

When it was time to release their third album ′The Final Countdown′, they had Journey—producer Kevin Elson onboard and a major American label behind them. Touring the UK, US and the rest of the world had always been the boys dream. They had put in the dog years and it was time for the big success. ′The Final Countdown′ sold 7 million records worldwide and the single was number one in over 25 countries and still is a big anthem all over the world until today. The album spent 70 weeks on the Billboard Charts and had four Top 40 singles. Europe had made it.

They were constantly on the road all over the world but eventually found time to hook up with producer Ron Nevison (UFO, Led Zeppelin) to record their 4th album ′Out Of This World′. With the new hit ′Superstitious′ on the airwaves, they embarked on another 2 year long world tour including an arena tour in the US as special guests to their friends in Def Leppard on their majestic Hysteria tour.

In 1990 they relocated to Los Angeles to record their 5th album, ′Prisoners In Paradise′, followed by yet another extensive world tour. By then the band had constantly been recording and touring for 10 years and felt it was time for a break.

2004 the band returned with the powerful ′Start From The Dark′. The plan was to think long-term and slowly build up a relationship with fans and the music world again. The album caused controversy with raw, heavy detuned songs, but proved to be a great platform to build on.

2006 they recorded ′Secret Society′ — a more heavy and alternative rock album.

According to the band it was their best album cover to date, designed and executed by the legendary Storm Thorgeson (Hypgnosis). With this album, the British rock press started to take the band serious. The band continued to tour worldwide but now started to get invited to play the UK on a regular basis, with steadily increasing concert attendees.

One of their most successful records since returning to the scene was released in 2009: ′Last Look At Eden′. With the majestic title track and the ballad ′New Love In Town′, Europe broadened their fan base even more to become one of the most successful bands in their genre and returned to the pole position of the official album charts in their home country.

At the end of April 2012, the 9th Europe—album, ′Bag Of Bones′, recorded at Atlantis Studios in Stockholm, was released worldwide. Spawning the singles/videos ′Not Supposed To Sing The Blues′ and ′Firebox′, The Kevin Shirley produced record saw the band embark on yet a new adventure with a more down to earth , soulful and bluesy feel, much appreciated in the classics rock and blues camps.

With continued touring and an ever growing fan base, Europe entered the brand new PanGaia Studios in Stockholm (the first band to ever to record there) to record ′War of Kings′. In keeping with the vibe of the previous two releases and in hopes to take their newfound creativity to even higher levels, the band chose American producer Dave Cobb who had done such an amazing job on recent releases by Rival Sons.

Joey adds “And after hearing Dave Cobb amazing production for Rival Sons we simply had to work with him!” And the result is an immense album that corners everything this band is about in 2015 — a huge ′classic′ sound that encompasses the bands talent and draws from all the classic bands and influences from the 70′s, with a vital current sound! ′War of Kings′ the album, featuring the title track as first single (released February 2nd) was unleashed on the public the day the WOK World tour starts — March 2nd 2015, with the band playing Dublin Ireland for the first time in 25 years.

Joey Tempest: “Hey! We took the long road! But we wanted to re—establish Europe the proper way. It′s taken 10 years and countless tours since the re-start but we′re finally getting there and we’ve done it our way!

For the first time in over 10 years the band played two concert tours in the USA within just over a year, including a headline appearance at the M3 festival in Maryland.

2016 found the band marking a milestone in their career, the 30th anniversary of their landmark album, The Final Countdown. To celebrate this, the band staged a series of special shows throughout Europe where they first performed the entire War of Kings album followed by the entire Final Countdown album. Their sold out show at London’s famous Roundhouse was documented for a DVD release in early 2017.

The Autumn of 2017 saw Europe release their 11th studio album “Walk The Earth” on the 20th October. The album featured original artwork by famed Los Angeles artist Mike Sportes of Filth Mart.

From the anthemic sound of the opening track “Walk The Earth” – to the heavy vibe that is “Haze”, from the instant melody of “Election Day” to the lyrical content of “Kingdom United”, “Walk The Earth” is the album that should see Europe rightly acclaimed as a band at the height of their powers. The wonderful melodies and depth of Joey Tempest’s vocals along with a powerhouse rhythm section and the guitar playing of John Norum, one of the great underrated guitarists. Norum’s guitar playing shines across the record. This is an album that is big in its scope and sound. Much like previous album “War Of Kings”, “Walk The Earth” is an album that has instant appeal but is also an album that needs to be lived with, in order to uncover it’s depth. The album was recorded at famed Abbey Road Studios in London, once again with Grammy winning producer Dave Cobb (Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton). The band won a Swedish Grammi for Walk The Earth in 2018, the band’s first such award.

2018 and 2019 saw the band continue to “Tour The Earth” with trip back to Japan for three concerts at the famous Club Citta in Kawasaki.

As we all know 2020 saw the global pandemic and the concert industry shut down. The band kept busy writing material and filming special lockdown videos for social media and other outlets.

2022 saw the band back in full force starting with an arena tour of UK with Whitesnake and Foreigner and then continuing into European territories with Whitesnake and numerous festival headline appearances. In December 2022 the band headlined three sold out arena shows in Chile, Brazil & Argentina respectively.

To top it all off the band were presented with a special YouTube award for ONE BILLION views of the 1986 smash “The Final Countdown” – the first Swedish band ever to hit that number with a single song.

2023 sees the 40th anniversary of the bands self-titled debut album and in January the band announced an 18 date tour of Europe with a special ‘Evening With’ performance in September / October, finishing with two concerts at the iconic London Palladium!

… 40 years on and no sign of slowing down!

  • Sepultura
    Sepultura

Sepultura is a phenomenon. For over twenty-five years, the band from Brazil has been delivering a brutal mix of metal, hardcore, thrash, punk and tribal that could hardly be more intense or more passionate. What had begun in Belo Horizonte in 1984 soon turned into a metal hurricane of threatening proportions and has taken on undreamt-of dimensions since the enlistment of American vocalist Derrick Green in 1998. You have to experience this band live on stage to understand the fascination that this South-American act holds. And Sepultura's current songs always indicate the future of heavy metal.

SEPULTURA BIO 2016 (by Dom Lawson)

Class is eternal and metal is forever. The road to heavy music glory is littered with the shattered corpses of those that didn’t have the strength to complete the journey. But true masters always win through, and Sepultura have long since earned their status as legends of the metal world. In 2017, they return with more fire in their collective belly than ever before. Machine Messiah is coming…

Formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1984, Sepultura swiftly became major players in the burgeoning thrash metal underground. With a sound that was as inventive and exuberant as it was raw and primitive, the band shattered preconceptions by planting South America firmly on the metal map, as early albums like Morbid Visions, Schizophrenia and Beneath The Remains helped to shape the sound of this new, brutal strain of heavy music. With a dogged devotion to touring anywhere and everywhere, Sepultura steadily built up one of the most dedicated fan bases on the planet, and while the ‘90s caused many metal bands to struggle creatively and commercially, the Brazilians went from strength to strength: both 1993’s Chaos AD and its groundbreaking follow-up Roots in 1996 were instant classics and have since proved to be hugely influential on several generations of metal musicians.

The departure of frontman and founder member Max Cavalera in 1997 could easily have derailed a less focused outfit, but the recruitment of vocalist Derrick Green later that same year proved to be a masterstroke. The last two decades have seen Sepultura evolve, diversify and thrive, releasing a steady succession of devastating records that have added great depth and diversity to the band’s illustrious catalogue. From the scattershot euphoria of Green’s first album Against in 1998 and the snarling groove barrage of 2003’s Roorback to the gleaming, riff-driven futurism of 2011’s Kairos and the Ross Robinson-produced mutant extremity of the widely acclaimed The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart, released in 2013, Sepultura’s progress has been perpetual and their artistic integrity impeccable. Ever more revered as a destructive and exhilarating live band, the current lineup of Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande recently celebrated Sepultura’s 30th anniversary with an unrelenting world tour that confirmed beyond doubt that the Brazilian crew are on the form of their lives right now.

Fast-forward to 2017 and Sepultura are poised to release an album that promises to once again reaffirm the band’s status as standard bearers for heavy music. Recorded with esteemed producer and engineer Jens Bogren (Opeth/Kreator/Ihsahn/Paradise Lost) manning the controls, Machine Messiah is not just the band’s 14th studio album – a remarkable enough feat in itself – but it is also quite simply the most complete and absorbing album the band have made in the Derrick Green era. Thrillingly broad in musical scope but always firmly rooted in the spirit and fire of no-nonsense heavy metal, it is clearly an album that the band have crafted with great love, passion and determination.

“We worked a lot in Brazil, doing as much pre-production as we could, to make it as complete as possible,” Andreas Kisser explains. “So when the producer comes, he comes with his suggestions and ideas and we refine the songs and then finally record it all. Jens was an amazing addition to the project. He’s a great producer. He’s very attentive to the details. I’m very happy with the sound – Jens mixed the album as well, in Sweden. We had an amazing time over there. We’re very excited about this record and we can’t wait for the it to come out!”

Ranging from the stately menace of the slow-burning title track and the heads-down fury of classic thrasher I Am The Enemy to the esoteric percussive riot of Phantom Self and the monstrous dark metal behemoth of Sworn Oath, Machine Messiah strikes an exquisite balance between delivering the goods and veering joyously off-piste. An album of meticulously crafted songs, but also of jaw-dropping individual moments, it reaches an epic and invigorating crescendo with the glowering, nightmarish Cyber God, as one of Kisser’s finest ever solos spirals, soars and fades to black. A towering achievement and a bona fide team effort, Machine Messiah may just be the finest Sepultura album yet.

“There are lots of new elements on this record, and that’s something we always do,” says the guitarist. “We always put 100% energy and passion into it. We talk about everything a lot, especially when it comes to the lyrics and finding the best way to express what we want to say. Derrick did his best job on this record. His voice sounds amazing and he can really sing! He really took over the lyrical part this time, too. Everyone was really professional. Even Paulo worked on his bass arrangements at home by himself, which he’s never done before! That’s what we need in Sepultura. I think this is one of our best albums, because it’s a real band effort.”

Armed with their finest album in decades and itching to get back on the road to share their new music with the faithful, Sepultura have never been in such a confident and content state of mind. Machine Messiah emerges into a troubled world, but its extraordinary contents are guaranteed to lift the spirits of any loyal metalhead. This is metal with a giant heart, a head full of inspiration and one foot planted squarely on the accelerator. The messiah is coming. Praise be!

“It’s a privilege to be in a band like Sepultura, 32 years into a career, and these are possibly the best times of all for us,” says Kisser. “It took a long time after Max left, we lost everything, so it took a while to rebuild everything and to find the right people to do stuff for us, but we’re in a good place now and we’re really excited about 2017. I love touring, man! We can’t wait to get back out there. Onstage is where the time stops and you lose your connection with reality and go somewhere else, and you have that exchange of energy with the crowd. It’s life - pure life.

  • Airbourne
    Airbourne
When Airbourne entered Music Farm Studio in southeastern Australia to track their new self-titled album, the sixth in a recording career now two decades deep, they effectively drew a line in the Byron Bay sand. This was the moment. Time to dig deep, to show the values they keep close, the traditions they uphold, the music that defines them. While history proves these Melbourne-based musicians – brothers Joel and Ryan O’Keeffe, vocals / guitar & drums respectively, bassist Justin Street and guitarist Brett Tyrrell – to be ever ready for a challenge, this one was larger than the band. Their mission was to create not just the greatest body of work in the Airbourne canon, but to scale the highest possible peak. Simply, this is ‘Airbourne’, band and album, at the very peak of their powers, pushing themselves to the limit in single-minded pursuit of the “iconic, gargantuan” release they had in their sights from the start; a release – produced by Brian Howes (who helmed 2013’s ‘Black Dog Barking’), engineered by Mike Fraser (who worked on 2010’s ‘No Guts. No Glory’ and 2016’s ‘Breakin’ Outta Hell’), mixed by Zakk Cervini (BMTH, Architects) and mastered by the legendary Ted Jensen – that pays heartfelt tribute to the enduring spirit of fallen rock’n’roll idols like Bon Scott and Lemmy, John Bonham and Malcolm Young, revered artists kept alive in the hearts and minds of fans.

  • Thrown
    Thrown

Thrown is a four-piece rock band from Dallas, TX. Formed in Jan. 2004, they combined the band's many different influences to come up with a sound unique and unforgettable. The band began playing shows and quickly gained a loyal fan base. In early 2006 the band released their debut EP "Out of the Shadows". The EP showcased hard hitting songs with lyrics about real life experiences that everyone can relate to. In spring 2009 Thrown released their highly anticipated first full length cd, "The Beautiful End". The band once again teamed up with award winning producer, Alex Gerst and ITR Studios for the project. The end result is something that was worth waiting for. Drummer Jason Hood says "This new album is about where we are right now as a band and as people. We feel like it captures what we're all about... Loud, Agressive, Heavy, Rock. That's what we do. We really took our time writing the album. We wanted every song to have its own meaning to be able to connect with our fans on an emotional level." And they certainly did that with songs like "Nothing Left" and "Goodbye." "We didn't want to write songs that weren't real. We wanted something that people can relate to. Everyone has had an experience like Nothing Left. When you give it your all and someone just doesn't want it. In the end you have nothing left. You just walk away and never look back" says vocalist Greg Vinson. On working with Alex Gerst, Jason Hood says "Alex was really the right man for the job when it came to doing the album. He was just awesome to work with. He knew when to push us, and when to back off. I've worked with a few different people before, but none have been like him. He allowed us to be us, and through it all we had fun." “Alex really understood the vision we had for the album, and shattered all of our expectations. He really helped us capture our band’s true sound on this record.” says guitarist Brad McFarland. Every song on this album tells its own story. Whether it's the won't back down message of "Bleed Like Me", the painful end of a relationship in “Goodbye”, or even the hard hitting story of sacrifice told in "The One", "The Beautiful End" has it all. 10 brand new tracks that leave you wanting more. So, be on the look out for THROWN coming to a venue near you!!!

  • Lagwagon
    Lagwagon

One of the essential bands of the '90s SoCal punk era, Lagwagon formed in Goleta, CA in 1990. Originally called Section 8, by the time of their 1992 debut, DUH, Lagwagon was comprised of singer Joey Cape, guitarists Chris Flippin and Shawn Dewey, bassist Jesse Buglione and drummer Derrick Plourde. TRASHED followed two years later, and in 1995 they released HOSS. Plourde left the band shortly after that and was replaced by ex-Rich Kids on LSD drummer Dave Raun. Former Posies guitarist Ken Stringfellow replaced Dewey for Lagwagon's next effort, 1997's DOUBLE PLAIDINUM; he soon departed as well, and another Rich Kids alum, guitarist Chris Rest, was on board for 1998's LET'S TALK ABOUT FEELINGS. It took five years to record 2003's BLAZE - LET'S TALK ABOUT LEFTOVERS, a compilation of B-sides, outtakes, and songs both old and new appeared in 2000, but it found the group as reliable as ever, touting anthems both political and personal. Cape then issued a split acoustic album, aptly titled ACOUSTIC, with No Use for a Name's Tony Sly in 2004. Both LIVE IN A DIVE and RESOLVE were released in 2005. The latter album was dedicated to drummer Plourde, who had committed suicide earlier in the year. After a two-year break, the band dropped I THINK MY OLDER BROTHER USED TO LISTEN TO LAGWAGON, which marked their tenth release on Fat Wreck Chords. HANG, Lagwagon's eighth full-length and first in nine years, arrived in the Fall of 2014 and the band's ninth album, RAILER, dropped in 2019.

    Paradise Lost

More than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, Paradise Lost remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled ‘Gothic’, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.

Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s ‘Draconian Times’, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists.

Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, ‘Ascension’, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. The albums 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.

Formed in Toronto in 1996, Danko Jones have seen and done just about everything over the last quarter of a century. Powered by a DIY punk rock spirit, and inspired by the good, great and grotesque of electrified rock ‘n’ roll, they have steadily built a colossal international fan base and become one of the most acclaimed live bands around, embraced by everyone from mainstream radio-rock fans to diehard metalheads. Along the way, they have released ten widely praised studio albums, generating a peerless repertoire of fists-in-the-air crowd-pleasers into the bargain. From the spiky blues of 2002’s Born A Lion and the crazed power-pop of its follow-up We Sweat Blood (2003), to the priapic perfection of 2010’s Below The Belt, the band’s knack for hitting rock’s sweet spot has never wavered.

Over the last decade, Danko Jones have visibly moved up a few gears. Since frontman Danko and bassist JC joined forced with drummer Rich Knox, the band’s creative fire has blazed more brightly than ever. A succession of all-killer, no-filler albums – Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio – has led to even more gung-ho touring and unapologetic service to the rock cause. In 2023, Toronto’s archbishops of amplification release their 11th album, Electric Sounds: proof that even a global pandemic couldn’t stop Danko Jones. • Kim Dracula
    Kim Dracula
The world of VOWWS has always been shrouded in mystery and darkness. That’s just the default setting of Australian-born, LA-based duo Matt James (vocals/guitars) and Rizz (vocals/keyboards). It’s how things have always been, it’s how things are, and it’s incredibly likely that that’s how they’ll always be. It should be no surprise, then, that their new album I’ll Fill Your House With An Army is suitably bleak. But don’t confuse that desolate sonic aesthetic for only being inspired by the darker things in life. There have always been glimmers and glimpses of light in their songs, whether on their 2015 full-length debut, The Great Sun or 2018’s Under The World, but the shadows have always been pretty opaque, making it hard for that light to break through. It struggles on this record, too. At the same time, however, it seems to flicker a bit brighter, and for a little longer.

“We definitely look at all the dark things in life and the world,” admits Matt. “I consider it my job to take a pretty unfiltered view of what's happening in the world, and then that goes through us and our filter, and comes back out as what whatever the music is. Lyrically, we tend not to say anything literally – there’s more of a surrealist and subversive element to it – so the world definitely looks like there's something wrong with it throughout our music and our worldview, but there's also definitely a beauty and an optimism in there as well. We try and find beauty in a lot of things, and try to present that in the framework of a broken world – whether that's an internal one or an external one.”

That conflation of internal and external worlds is what has always given VOWWS their unique and distinctive edge. Because rather than staring into the abyss, they’re already in it, staring outwards, waiting for the doom to catch up to them rather than trying to avoid it. That combination of harrowing, heartfelt and hopeful – all three dancing seductively with each other – has garnered the duo plenty of attention since their inception. Early single “Losing Myself In You” featured, and was co-written with, nu-wave legend Gary Numan, a remix of Under The World’s “Structure Of Love” featured guest vocals from Deftones’ Chino Moreno, and 2022 single “WAIT” saw Chelsea Wolfe add her voice to the mix. Korn, A Perfect Circle and Billy Corgan also count themselves as fans, and the pair headed our with Alice In Chains founder and guitarist Jerry Cantrell on a UK and European tour.

It’s an exciting flurry of activity that comes after what James admits was a “painful” period of time following the release of that second album. Because not too long after its release, of course, the world came to a standstill. As it did for most people – as well as most bands – it had a profound effect on VOWWS. Not only did the band not play any shows for two years – “Our first show back was with Deftones on the tour with them,” remembers Matt, “and I was terrified, because I just thought ‘I can't be sure that I can actually do this anymore.’” – but the extended period of time off caused them to reshape and rethink the new music they’d been working on. By 2022 they had made a full 20-track record, but they weren’t happy with it, so went back to the drawing board.
“Rizz is like the canary in the coalmine for us,” explains Matt. “She can't kid herself into feeling good about something she doesn't feel good about, whereas I can. So, frustratingly for me, she was like 'This isn't good enough.' I wanted to just mix it a bit more and paper over the cracks, but she was like 'No, it's already been this long, it doesn't matter if it takes a bit longer.'”

And so the band enlisted the help of A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel, and they started crafting what would eventually become I’ll Fill Your House With An Army. Rizz was right. From the moment the album begins with the dour insistent march of “Blood’s On Fire”, it’s clear that it was well worth the extra time. The song – which features Josh Freese behind the drum kit – is a tug of war between lightness and darkness, Rizz and Matt’s vocals pulling each other both further into that void while also trying to not get swallowed whole by it. That conflict rages across the record’s 11 tracks, whether that’s on the gloomy, creepy snarl of “SHUDDER” (which, along with “Silhouette” and “Re-Animator”, also has Freese on drums, and features Korn guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer), the stark, ice-cold emotion of “Pulls Me Apart” or the tender, dreamy tumble of “Hurt You”. Despite the push and pull nature of these songs, though, those extremes exist within each other, forever entwined, never quite separate. Listen, for instance, to how “Re-Animator” soars in its second half as it attempts to escape itself, to how “Casualty” flits between intense, Vantablack grooves and sun-filled ethereal soundscapes, to how the haunted love of “I Never Left” – possibly the most vulnerable, tender song the band have ever committed to tape – swerves between eerie and soothing, beautiful and barren, demonic and sweet.

That VOWWS did decide, in the end, to take their time with this album, only ended up serving them – and the record – incredibly well. Though racked with self-doubt and uncertainty about everything, the pair pushed through the darkness and emerged if not entirely in the light, then at least with it glowing in the distance. Of course, it wouldn’t be VOWWS if it remained within reach, and as “Waterline” – an unsettling, demonic slow dance of a finale – comes to an end, it fades gently but powerfully, trapping the listener in the void, proving that the hard work and the long slog and battle against themselves were all worth it, and ultimately resulted in a better record.
“We're proud of ourselves for getting there – and having the faith to get there in the end,” says Matt, “because there was a lot of doubt. But pushing through that doubt was fully part of the process. We both just care about this more than anything else, because we think it's important. We think it's something special and we want to share it with the world. But we also want to create a world that people can't get anywhere else, and bring them into it – and lose ourselves in it, too. It's kind of holistic if you do it right, I think.”

One listen to I’ll Fill Your House With An Army and it’s clear that VOWWS have, indeed, done it right. One listen and you’re immediately drawn into their world, left gasping for air, left overwhelmed by its force. And though you probably know you should escape, you’re also very happy being lost there, letting your eyes adjust to those brief, bright moments of light, because you finally realise that it’s your world, too, and there’s so much comfort in that.

WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE? We were there when Norwegian extreme metal grew forth and took shape as an enormous cultural export. We played far and wide. At home and abroad. We were part of something new. Something special and innovative. We were there and swung the hammer when Viking metal was forged as a unique expression that later inspired countless bands, worldwide. Now the horns of war sound again... Our Norse heritage is a phenomenon that reaches far beyond what one can hear alone. It is an amalgamation of the mystique and sagas of old, of songs and poems, of woodcutting and sword grinding and the vikings merciless way of life. It’s a cultural patchwork that fills the consciousness with the brutal majesty of the Nordic nature, the elemental strain, of mighty longships plowing the black seas to reach unknown shores. The wisdom of the gods and their Valhalla. Of cultural encounters and trade. Of violence and brutality. Of tough men in a tough time. Our hometown Haugesund also rings with historic sound, and from our own shores on the west coast of Norway the influence of the vikings stretched towards the sea and the world beyond. The adventurers, pioneers, poets and craftsmen have inspired Einherjer to go their own way. The vikings courage and boldness have inspired us to never compromise our vision: A vision that is a unique, self-made, original and modern interpretation of our mighty Nordic heritage.

    Lacuna Coil

Formed in 1994, Lacuna Coil quickly became one of Century Media’s biggest selling bands. From Comalies (2002) and Karmacode (2004) to Shallow Life (2009) and Broken Crown Halo (2014), the high-flying Italian act demonstrated an uncanny ability to pull in rock, gothic, and metal audiences. The band’s spirited and lauded live performances have also earned them a solid reputation for a band that not only delivers night in/night out, but also a band whose stage performance reverberates long after the show is over. Indeed, Lacuna Coil’s heartfelt, heavy, melodic, and rhythmic metal—a hybrid of gothic, groove, and alternative—has created a rabid worldwide following. Whether it’s “Our Truth” and “Layers of Time” or “Nothing Stands in Our Way” and “Trip the Darkness,” Lacuna Coil’s dual-vocalist assault is immediately identifiable. The band's latest offering, Comalies XX, is a revisitation of their landmark album from 2002. Fan favorites such as Heaven's A Lie and Swamped have been deconstructed and reworked for year 2022. "We wanted to give these songs a new dress, show the world how these old timers could still look f**king slick in twenty years later."

  • Animals As Leaders
    Animals As Leaders

Sometimes, a band’s music registers just as seismically on an emotional wavelength as it does on a sonic spectrum. Animals As leaders—Tosin Abasi [guitar], Javier Reyes [guitar], and Matt Garstka [drums]—reimagine, reinterpret, and refresh instrumental prog, experimental metal, modern jazz, alternative, and even world music to a point where the reaction becomes primal on their fourth full-length album, The Madness of Many [Sumerian Records]. “What you’re hearing is the madness of the band, what happens in our heads, and what it sounds like when you put it all together,” exclaims Javier. “For us, that’s the sound of the new album. It’s simply the madness of these three individuals. We’re trying to create something that only we can do.” That’s why Animals As Leaders have risen to celebrated heroes of their respective instruments since first emerging in 2007. Most recently, 2014’s The Joy of Motion bowed at #24 on the Billboard Top 200, moving 13,000 copies first-week. Along the way, the trio has earned acclaim from the likes of Consequence of Sound, Revolver, Ultimate Guitar, and Rolling Stone who extolled them, “as satisfying in their visceral kick as they are in dazzling displays of dexterity.” Tosin would grace the cover of Guitar World twice, while Matt covered Modern Drummer. Consistently delivering a captivating show, they’ve toured alongside Deftones, Between The Buried And Me, Periphery, and many others in addition to Tosin joining Joe Satriani at the G4 Experience and Steve Vai and Nuno Bettencourt for the Generation Axe Tour. Matt remains a sought-after talent, performing on Late Night With Seth Meyers and at drum clinics and festivals worldwide, and Javier’s solo project Mestis stands out as a fan favorite. When it came time to begin working on new music in late 2015, the musicians possessed a clear vision for their next evolution. “Instead of enlisting a producer, we ended up doing everything ourselves for the first time,” says Javier. “We were really influencing each other, and it’s the most collaborative effort so far.” The band opened up the writing process like never before since Matt joining in 2012. Ideas were flowing freely, and his contributions added another dimension to the group’s signature style. Another first, Tosin and Javier actually wrote guitar to the drums of six-minute album opener “Arithmophobia.” It’s polyrhythmic percussive palette provided the perfect backdrop for distinct dexterous riffing and a hypnotic hummable lead. “That was something I sent the guys, and I sat down and explained it,” reveals Matt. “It turned into a very cool track.” “Eventually, it didn’t seem so foreign,” chuckles Javier. “It challenged us to create a new style while still persevering who we are.” “Most people would expect a heavy song,” he goes on. “It moves like a dance, ballet, or something very theatrical. That’s where the title came from. It’s literally a journey in your head.” Ultimately, The Madness of Many will impact listeners like only Animals As Leaders can. Javier leaves off, “I just want to blow people’s minds and leave them speechless, so they want to share the record.”

  • Subway To Sally
    Subway To Sally
Schandmaul is a German rock/folk band. The band specializes in a genre of music often known as "Medieval-Folk Rock", as they often include instruments typically used in Medieval folk songs such as the bagpipes and shawms as parts of their rock sound. Contemporaries include Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Saltatio Mortis, Regicide and Letzte Instanz.
Schandmaul was founded in the summer of 1998, when six musicians from Munich and the surrounding area decided to put on a concert of folks music songs. Because just doing covers was not enough, they decided to write some of their own stuff. Thus was created the first tune they wrote themselves, "Teufelsweib" (Devil Woman), which already had what was to become the typical Schandmaul sound that they've built on over the years.
