Icelandic Sheepdog Day will, as always, be celebrated in style in in cooperation with the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum!
We warmly invite all owners and their Icelandic sheepdogs to Lýtingsstaðir to meet up, chat, and visit the heritage center and the traditional turf houses on site. There will, of course, be hot coffee waiting!
Admission to the Icelandic Sheepdog Heritage Center will be free for everyone on this day.
Afterwards, we’ll move on to Glaumbær, the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum.
Watson was a great friend of Iceland, and we have much to thank him for — including a generous monetary donation in 1938 for repairs to the old turf farm at Glaumbær, which played a significant part in its preservation.
Watson is also regarded as the savior of the Icelandic sheepdog, and his birthday is celebrated as Icelandic Sheepdog Day.
To mark the occasion, owners of Icelandic sheepdogs accompanied by their dogs will have free admission to the Glaumbær Museum.
At the museum’s café, Áshús, there’ll be treats available for both people and dogs.
