Empire of the SunEmpire of the Sun is one of Australia’s most visionary music projects, created by Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. Since their landmark album debut Walking On A Dream—featuring global anthems “Walking On A Dream” and “We Are The People”—Empire of the Sun has captivated millions with its euphoric fusion of electronic pop and surreal performance. Follow-up albums Ice on the Dune and Two Vines delivered fan favorites like “Alive,” “DNA,” “High and Low,” and “Way To Go,” and after an 8-year hiatus, 2024’s Ask That God opened a bold new chapter, with singles, “Changes”, “Music On The Radio”, “Cherry Blossom” and others, pushing their celestial sound into uncharted territory. With more than 5.5 million albums sold, 7.6 billion streams, eight ARIA Awards, and two APRA Awards, Empire of the Sun stands as a global cultural force. Their debut album Walking on a Dream achieved triple platinum in Australia, and platinum and gold certification in both the UK and the USA. In 2024, Empire of the Sun returns, bringing their 4th album, Ask That God, to the world stage with sold-out headline shows across North America in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Denver, and Mexico City, followed by a run of European dates spanning all corners of the continent, from Slovakia to Istanbul, along with a triumphant night at London’s iconic Old Royal Naval College —underscoring their reputation as one of the most transportive live shows today. Empire forges on, reaching Empyreans across the globe. -
Passion PitBoston, Massachusetts-based Passion Pit began as a one-man project of singer and songwriter Michael Angelakos to produce a Valentine's Day gift for his girlfriend. The gift, an EP entitled Chunk of Change, soon wound up in the hands of friends and acquaintances, who were enthralled with the work. Eventually, Passion Pit became not only a vehicle for the romantic expressions of Angelakos' heart but a full-fledged band at least for live gigs and opened for a number of well-known artists, including Death Cab for Cutie. This momentum led to label interest, and in 2008 the Frenchkiss label picked up Chunk of Change for re-release with the addition of two bonus tracks. The EP, and especially the track "Sleepyhead," garnered a lot of attention from bloggers and fans of giddy electronic indie pop. Columbia Records also liked what they heard and paired with Frenchkiss to release Manners in the spring of 2009. It reached 51 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and also charted in Australia and parts of Western Europe. The band's long-awaited 2012 follow-up, Gossamer, was preceded by the singles "Take a Walk," "I'll Be Alright," "Constant Conversation," and it climbed all the way to number 4 in the US.

Leon Thomas
Amos Leon Thomas Jr (born 1937, died May 8, 1999) was an American avant garde jazz singer from East St. Louis, Illinois. He changed his name to Leone in 1974.
Thomas is best known for his work with Pharoah Sanders, particularly the 1969 song "The Creator Has a Master Plan" from Sanders' Karma album. Thomas's most distinctive device was that he often broke out into yodeling in the middle of a vocal. This style has influenced singers James Moody and Tim Buckley, among others.
Thomas studied music at Tennessee State University. He also worked with Grant Green, Jimmy Forrest, and Hank Crawford, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Randy Weston, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Louis Armstrong, Carlos Santana, Freddie Hubbard and Oliver Nelson.
Thomas died of heart failure on May 8, 1999.
