Over the past two years, singer Kjalar Kollmar has become a great admirer and enthusiast of Brazilian music. During his studies at the Jazz Institut Berlin, he has had the opportunity to become deeply acquainted with the genre and now plans to perform his favorite songs from that tradition. These include works by songwriters and performers such as Toninho Horta, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Elis Regina, and Chico Buarque. Kjalar’s own compositions have also been influenced by Brazilian music, and some of his original songs will be included in the program as well.

Joining Kjalar on stage will be a lineup of top-class instrumentalists. The band consists of:

The Jazz í Djúpinu concert series takes place on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM during the summer of 2026. Djúpið is the basement of the restaurant Hornið (Hafnarstræti 15, 101 Reykjavík). The entrance to Djúpið is at the back, facing Bæjarins beztu. The entrance to the basement opens at 8:00 PM. Ticket price is 4.000 ISK, tickets are sold at the entrance and in advance. The concert series is organised by the Jazz Department of FÍH. Please note that there is no wheelchair access at the venue.

    Alexandra Rós er hljóðfæraleikari (trommur, trompet og gítar). Hún hefur reynslu af alls kyns samspili, allt frá ýmiss konar dúó samsetningum yfir í stórsveitir. Hún hefur komið fram með ýmsum hljómsveitum, þar á meðal FLOTT í Vikunni hjá Gísla Marteini. Alexandra vann til verðlauna fyrir trommuleik sinn og var titluð Trommuleikari Músíktilrauna árið 2021. Alexandra hefur brennandi áhuga á nýsköpun í tónlist og að kanna mörk hennar og möguleika.
