"Street scenes" is the title of the fifth exhibition by members of FÓKUS, the Amateur Photography Club, which is taking over the exhibition space Skotið at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography in 2026.
The exhibition draws inspiration from a line by an Icelandic writer Indriði G. Þorsteinsson: “Roads lead in all directions, and on them there will be partings.” This sentiment echoes the essence of street photography—moments encountered in passing, shaped by chance, movement and human presence.
Often described as the father of the genre, Henri Cartier Bresson captured its spirit succinctly: “It is that creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture… You must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment when the photographer is creative.” "Street Scenes" celebrates this fleeting, intuitive act, presenting images that reveal the subtle narratives unfolding in public spaces.

This exhibition is part of an exhibition series for 2026. A total of seven exhibitions by Fókus members will be held throughout the year, featuring the work of 47 photographers.
In addition, a continuous slideshow of photographs by Fókus members will be shown on screen throughout the evening.
The event is part of Reykjavík City Museum’s Culture Night programme.
Accessibility at the Museum of Photography is good. Assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.
