Lunchtime Melodies I Björgvin Halldórsson's best songs

November 6th Gerðuberg City Library
November 7th Spöngin City Library
Lunchtime Melodies in November will feature songs by Björgvin Halldórsson, who passed away in April this year and left behind a remarkable legacy of beloved Icelandic popular songs that have become cherished classics for generations.
Sigvaldi Helgi Gunnarsson was raised in Skagafjörður and took his first steps in music there. From a young age, he has performed both as a solo artist and with bands, entertaining his local community at events such as midwinter festivals, birthdays, weddings, funerals, and many other occasions. In 2015, Sigvaldi Helgi reached the finals of The Voice Iceland.
In 2024, he released the EP Up North, featuring original songs and lyrics. His motto is: “Music for almost every occasion.”
At these concerts, Sigvaldi will sing and play guitar, accompanied by Leifur Gunnarsson on double bass, who also serves as the artistic director of the concert series.
Lunchtime Melodies is a concert series presented by City Library in collaboration with double bassist Leifur Gunnarsson. The series features many of Iceland’s leading musicians and provides Reykjavík residents with an opportunity to gather, meet friends, enjoy live music, and chat with the performers after the concert.
The primary aim of the series is to bring ambitious, high-quality music into the city’s neighborhoods, allowing people to enjoy it within their own communities and on their own terms.
