Templeshttps://www.templestheband.com/
Templesâ name has become synonymous with a band with an adventurous spirit; constantly exploring new ideas. The British band formed in Kettering, England consists of James Bagshaw (vocals/guitar), Thomas Walmsley (bass), Adam Smith (keyboards/guitar), and Rens Ottink (drums). On their fifth album, BLISS, they shake up the perception of theKettering-formed four-piece with a record that ventures into electronic territory while staying true to their core DNA. Euphoric and melancholic melodies of late â90s dance music blend with psych-tinged riffs and loops to create something fresh.
Sonically, BLISS reinterprets dance music in Templesâ style. Lead single Jet Stream Heart captures the thrill of being drawn into music, while Vendetta merges scuzzy riffs with lasering synths and dance melodies. Blue Flame, drawn from a chorus Smith had in his pocket for some years, explores disconnection with a slower, icier sound. Revelations nods toGregorian chants, blending spiritual and matter-of-fact elements. Megalith tackles frustrations, surrender, and the fear of being stuck amidst a moving world.

Cabaret VoltaireCabaret Voltaire were an experimental music band which formed in Sheffield, England in 1973. They originally consisted of Stephen Mallinder (vocals, bass), Richard Kirk (guitar, keyboards, sound manipulation) and Chris Watson (sound manipulation, tapes). Watson left the group in 1981 and the band continued as a duo until their disbandment in 1994.
Hailing from Sheffield, England, Stephen Mallinder & Richard H. Kirk were the backbone of Cabaret Voltaire, and creators of many of the techniques that fueled the industrial and electronic genres for years. From the droning noise-punk of Nag Nag Nag to the sublime electronic pop of Easy Life, with industrial funk hits like Sensoria in between, the Cabs' career spanned 3 decades.
Many recent/current electronic artists owe a great deal of debt to Cabaret Voltaire's experimental beginnings, in particular Richard H Kirk's paranoid otherworldly samples, fused with gritty dark looped percussion. Kirk also had several solo outings, with his Sweet Exorcist incarnation opening the doors for Warp Records, in their "bleep" days that were the harbinger for the sonic experimentation of Aphex Twin, Autechre, The Black Dog and more.
The late 80s and early 90s saw Cabaret Voltaire take an increasingly pop-oriented bent in their music, but many tracks like Easy Life and later, Colours fused hooks with all the excitment of the burgeoning rave scene in the UK.
As well as working on his own aural experiments, original band member Chris Watson now works as a well-respected sound recordist, developing some innovative techniques for Natural History radio and TV, most recently (2006) for the BBC's Galapagos series.

The Automatic
Automatic is the trio of Izzy Glaudini (synths, lead vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals).
Automaticâs second album Excess rides the imaginary edge where the â70s underground met the corporate culture of the â80s â or, as the band puts it, âThat fleeting moment when what was once cool quickly turned and became mainstream, all for the sake of consumerism.â Using this point in time as a lens through which to view the present moment, Excess takes aim at corporate culture and extravagance.
The overarching themes of alienation and escapism emerged as Automatic put Excess together, taking writing retreats to flesh out the new songs before decamping to the studio for sprint recording sessions with producer Joo Joo Ashworth (Sasami, FROTH).
On âNew Beginningâ â inspired by the Swedish sci-fi film Aniara â they reject the false hope of leaving behind a scorched planet and searching for âa better place,â at a moment when the ultra-rich are eyeing manned space travel: âIn the service of desire / We will travel far away.â The song and accompanying video imagine the ânihilism and lonelinessâ of attempting to escape the planet once unchecked consumerism has reached its logical outcome.

Claw Boys Claw, UK Subs, the Scene, Fuzztones, Channel Zero, L7, Noordkaap, Belgian Asociality, Nemo, Gorky, Jason Rawhead, Les Thugs, the Romans, Arbeid Adelt, Paranoiacs enz.
