Pianist and composer Magnús Jóhann Ragnarsson has been active in the Icelandic music scene for the past 10 years since placing third in Músíktilraunir (Icelandic Battle of the Bands competition). He has released numerous albums under his own name, composed film scores, produced albums for other artists, founded a music festival, worked on television productions, and performed an array of concerts each year, to name just a few of his accomplishments.

On September 17, he will turn 30 and plans to celebrate his birthday with a big concert at Háskólabíó. At that time, the occasion will also mark 10 years since the release of his first solo album, Pronto.

At the concert, many of Magnús’s key collaborators will come together, and songs spanning his entire career will be performed. Magnús and GDRN will play songs from their platinum selling album, and leading figures from the jazz world will also appear and perform pieces from their acclaimed collaborative records. Magnús will also perform both new and old songs on his own, equipped with various synthesizers and there might even be some surprise guests.

Magnús Jóhann has twice been named Performer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards and has also received numerous nominations and recognitions for his work. This is an event no music lover should miss!
