Performers

  • Activator
    Activator

NYC-scene veterans of 16+ years, sharing the stage with everyone from Bad Brains to Battles to Cro-Mags to El-P, released their self-titled debut record in the fall of 2013. SYFFAL said at the time it's "the album Activator fans have been waiting for since they dropped their EP all those years ago on Def Jux. Rooted in the soul of late-80s crossover thrash with a sprinkle of NYHC and Iron Maiden; the shit squiggles all sorts of beauty and sheer terror. It's like getting a hand job from a tornado bro - all speed, power and friction."

The guys are currently working on new material for a 2024 release.

Radiating with a burning desire to make people move, Intermood’s heaving live performances have turned heads within Naarm’s thriving instrumental scene. Swearing an allegiance to always bring the ruckus, the group’s blend of instrumental psychedelic jazz and high energy neo-disco has emerged out of sweaty sold out shows within Australia’s music capital, leading them to the stages of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and Strawberry Fields.

Intermood’s evolving sound fuses the live dance music of Mildlife and L’Éclair with the housey rhythms of Todd Terje. With the release of their upcoming EP, the group are set to continue carving out their own space within Naarm's instrumental and dance worlds.

  • Tangerine
    Tangerine

Tangerine Dream are a German electronic music group founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The band has undergone several personnel changes over the years, with Froese the only continuous member. Drummer and composer Klaus Schulze was a member of an early lineup, but the most stable version of the group during their influential mid-1970s period was as a keyboard trio with Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. Early in the 1980s, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann, and this lineup, too, was stable and extremely productive. In more recent years Edgar has been joined by his son Jerome Froese and Thorsten Quaeschning for studio work, other guest musicians join them for live work, including Linda Spa on sax and flute and Iris Camaa on percussion and electronic drums.

Tangerine Dream's early "Pink Years" albums, originally released on the German OHR label had a pivotal role in the development of krautrock. Their "Virgin Years" and later albums became a defining influence in new age Music and some ambient techno. The group are still producing new studio work and are currently in the planning stages of a world tour to mark their 40th anniversary (2007-08), starting in London on april 20th 2007 at the London Astoria theatre, with two additional dates in Germany in July (Free Open air concert in Eberswalde Market Square) and October (At the Alte Oper in Frankfurt on Main).
