IN CAELO ET IN TERRA – Útgáfutónleikar á tvöfaldri afmælishátíð

The Choir Hallgrímskirkja invites you to a concert celebrating the release of the choir’s first full-length album of new Icelandic sacred music, In caelo et in terra.

Released by Hallgrímskirkja, the album marks both the 40th anniversary of the church’s consecration and the fifth anniversary of our choir.

Since its founding, The Choir Hallgrímskirkja has placed innovation at the heart of its work, and every piece on the album was commissioned and premiered by the choir. The works are settings of sacred Latin texts, texts with a long and resonant history, which have inspired countless musical interpretations through the centuries. In these new compositions, contemporary composers take a fresh look at these ancients texts, shaping their own distinctive sound worlds around words that have echoed through the life of the Church for generations.

Admission to the concert is free of charge. The album will be available for purchase in the church foyer before and after the concert. Donations to our choir fund will be warmly received.
