Ásgeir Ásgeirsson’s Crossing Borders quartet will perform at Djúpið on October 1, 2026.
Ásgeir has been a prominent figure in the Icelandic music scene since 1995, working across a wide range of styles and performing equally in jazz, pop, and various forms of world music. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous acclaimed and popular bands and projects. Last year, he released the album Crossing Borders, which received the Icelandic Music Award in March of this year.
The album took five years to complete and features 19 original jazz and world music compositions, released as a triple vinyl edition. It has received outstanding reviews both in Iceland and internationally for its originality, diversity, accessibility, and strong melodic character.
The track “Cairo Vibe” from Crossing Borders is featured in the international television series The Danish Woman, directed by Benedikt Erlingsson.
Joining Ásgeir is an exceptional group of musicians. The quartet consists of:

Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir – drums
The Jazz í Djúpinu concert series takes place on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM during the fall of 2026. Djúpið is the basement of the restaurant Hornið (Hafnarstræti 15, 101 Reykjavík). The entrance to Djúpið is at the back, facing Bæjarins beztu. The entrance to the basement opens at 8:00 PM. Ticket price is 4.000 ISK, tickets are sold at the entrance and in advance. The concert series is organised by the Jazz Department of FÍH. Please note that there is no wheelchair access at the venue.
