Jazz í Djúpinu // Björg Blöndal & Þorkell Ragnar

Thursday, October 29, Björg Blöndal and Þorkell Ragnar will take the stage at Djúpið to perform material from an unreleased album they recorded this summer.

Over the past year, they have been composing and arranging music for the project with the aim of exploring the interplay between guitar and voice in a way that moves beyond the traditional “lead vocal and accompaniment” approach.

The program will feature a mix of original compositions and reinterpretations of classic Icelandic popular songs, presented in inventive arrangements for guitar, baritone guitar, voice, vocoder, and various synthesizers.

The music can be described as intimate, understated, and highly listenable, with the perpetual tension between the “acoustic” and the “electronic” taking center stage. And who knows—there may even be a few delightful surprises in store before the evening is over!

The Jazz í Djúpinu concert series takes place on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM during the fall of 2026. Djúpið is the basement of the restaurant Hornið (Hafnarstræti 15, 101 Reykjavík). The entrance to Djúpið is at the back, facing Bæjarins beztu. The entrance to the basement opens at 8:00 PM. Ticket price is 4.000 ISK, tickets are sold at the entrance and in advance. The concert series is organised by the Jazz Department of FÍH. Please note that there is no wheelchair access at the venue.
