Óperudagar safna fyrir nýju píanói fyrir Tjarnarbíó!

Tjarnarbíó Theater, Tjarnargata 12, 101 Reykjavík Directions

Many different music theatre groups often perform in Tjarnarbíó. However, there is not a decent instrument in the house. The poor old instrument currently there (actually from Reykjavik Opera Days) has sung its last note and officially handed in its resignation!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Reykjavík Opera Days, we are launching a fundraiser to buy a new or second-hand piano suitable for the venue and the classical vocal/music theatre scene. Every little contribution adds up!

If 500 people contribute ISK 1,000 – or 1,000 people contribute ISK 500, we should be able to find a perfectly good instrument.

And if anyone happens to have a good piano that is not getting much use and is not too large (it needs to be easy to move around the venue), please get in touch!

Let’s set ourselves a goal: a new piano by 1 October!

Please mark your transfer PIANO

If the amount raised exceeds the cost of the instrument itself, a piano stool and transportation, the remaining funds will go entirely towards a dedicated fund for the tuning and maintenance of the Tjarnarbíó piano.

The official owner and caretaker of the instrument will be Reykjavik Opera Days.

The fundraiser will be transparent and all figures will be published on the Reykjavík Opera Days website once the campaign has ended.

Every contribution brings us a little closer.

***Update regarding the revised wording of the fundraiser***

We have clarified the structure of the fundraiser a little further. The piano currently at Tjarnarbíó belongs to Reykjavík Opera Days, and the aim of this fundraiser is to find a worthy replacement for it.

Reykjavík Opera Days will remain the owner of the instrument and will be responsible for its running costs and maintenance. Our hope is that, just like the old piano, the new instrument can benefit as many members of the vocal and music theatre community performing at Tjarnarbíó as possible.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has already supported us – we have already raised ISK 110,000! ❤️ Thank you so much for helping us get this project off the ground.
