HOBBY HORSE PRESENTS A DOUBLE BILL:
Richard Andersson NOR feat. Anne Efternøler
With a clear and sensitive expression shaped by Nordic melancholy and carefully measured volcanic temperament, prize-winning bassist Richard Andersson's Danish/Icelandic trio NOR has moved listeners across Scandinavia at more than 100 concerts over the past decade.
Now the trio is ready to present a collaboration with trumpeter Anne Efternøler, a musician whose deeply personal voice and poetic storytelling take the trio into new corners of their musical universe.
Alongside bandleader Richard Andersson, the NOR trio features two of Iceland's most prominent jazz personalities: saxophonist Oskar Gudjonsson (ADHD, Jakob Bro, Mezzoforte, and more) and drummer Matthias Hemstock.
Drawing on compositions by Andersson and Gudjonsson, the trio created their debut album Nor in 2017, followed in autumn 2018 by The Six of Us . Both releases were received with great enthusiasm by Danish and international press alike. Salt Peanuts wrote: "The trio does sound as a tight unit, with a strong, emphatic interplay, as of a close family but of the Scandinavian kind, well-behaved, quiet and gentle." Their Danish Music Awards Jazz-nominated album Undo (2023) followed, featuring Hilmar Jensson's generous and virtuosic guitar work. And who knows – perhaps this new collaboration with Anne Efternøler will give rise to an album before long. Either way, audiences are in for an intimate and very special concert experience when NOR takes the stage with "…a trumpeter with an expression that goes straight to the heart." (Salt Peanuts, 2023).

Simon Linnert Kvartet
Simon Linnert is one of the most distinctive voices in Scandinavian jazz – a pianist of rare expressive depth, moving freely between lyrical tradition and modern abstraction. His path has been anything but straightforward: from a promising start on the Copenhagen scene in his teens, through studies in New York with Jason Moran and Sophia Rosoff, to a decade-long hiatus and an eventual return that led to Of Visions (2020) and the trio album Sayeh (2025), recorded in Copenhagen the day after a pop-up concert at Christiania Jazz Club.
For their Spil Dansk concert at Christiania Jazz Club , Linnert presents a newly formed quartet performing original material written for the occasion. He is joined by three distinct voices from the Nordic scene: saxophonist Ned Ferm, bassist Richard Andersson and drummer Jeppe Gram.
Ned Ferm is an American saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist based in Copenhagen, holding a soloist degree from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. One of the most unpredictable and wide-ranging musicians on the scene, he moves with equal ease between scorching free jazz and intimate lyrical playing, and has appeared on over 100 international recordings.
Jeppe Gram is a prominent Danish drummer and composer with four albums under his own name, most recently The Doldrums (Storyville, 2021). A mainstay of the Copenhagen jazz scene, his playing bridges deeply rooted swing and open, contemporary forms.
Bassist Richard Andersson is a central voice in Danish and Nordic jazz, and also appears that same evening with his trio NOR featuring trumpeter Anne Efternøler.
The concert is supported by Koda Kultur.
