Spacestation celebrate the release of their new album, Who Killed Spacestation?, with a major release show at Austurbæjarbíó on October 23. The album is released on September 10 and marks a new chapter in the band’s story, a reckoning with the past, a rebirth, and a reflection on everything that has shaped Spacestation over the past few years.
Since forming in 2021, Spacestation have established themselves as a strong presence in the Icelandic music scene. Their debut EP, BÆBÆ, received the Kraumur Award and was followed by nominations for the Icelandic Music Awards and the Reykjavík Grapevine Awards, among others. Since then, the band have toured extensively across Europe and performed at festivals including Iceland Airwaves, The Great Escape, SXSW, Reeperbahn and Waves Vienna.
Spacestation’s music drifts between dream pop, shoegaze, indie rock and raw rock ’n’ roll. Their songs are defined by infectious melodies, dense walls of guitar and an explosive live presence where chaos and precision collide. Who Killed Spacestation? captures the band’s evolution over the past few years, from small venues in Reykjavík to international tours and festival stages — and is their biggest and most ambitious work to date.
At the release show, the album will be performed in a special live arrangement alongside older songs from the band’s catalogue. The production will be bigger than ever before, making the night a celebration of a new era in Spacestation’s story.
