This Friday, RIFF presents a special event dedicated to Icelandic music videos.

The event is held in collaboration with Smekkleysa and takes place at the record store’s premises at Hverfisgata 32 📼

The programme features new music videos alongside a special selection of older works — lost gems that are not publicly available in full resolution, but have proven to be an important part of Icelandic culture.

Magnús Leifsson has curated the selection of older music videos. The programme reflects the history of music videos in Iceland and features work by some of the country’s leading directors. Maggi is one of Iceland’s most established music video directors, and throughout his decades-long career he has worked with artists from across the Icelandic music scene, including Of Monsters and Men, Retro Stefson, FM Belfast, Ólafur Arnalds, múm, Björn, Úlfur Úlfur and Emmsjé Gauti.

These works offer a glimpse into the evolution of Icelandic music videos and showcase the diverse visual approaches of Icelandic directors — films that deserve to be seen on the big screen and experienced together. 🎬
