Equally inspired by cinéma vérité as he is anime and Nicki Minaj, SIR E.U has continued to antagonize and delight listeners with a collection of work that is chaotic, improvisational and has been critically acclaimed by Pitchfork, The Washington Post, The FADER and more. Whether solo or alongside contemporaries such as celebrated DC-based rap duo Model Home or experimental Techno producer Huerco S, E.U always finds himself at the cutting edge of eclectic sound.
His latest work, I Will Never Let You go, takes his improvisational chaos in an exhilarating new direction. The album was recorded live in a podcast studio in the lobby of the LINE Hotel in Washington, DC -- a space founded by collaborator Jack Inslee, producer of two critically-acclaimed albums for indie-folk singer/songwriter Odetta Hartman.
The result is a cinematically satisfying, disorienting trip through SIR E.U's mind - a place where identity, diaspora, misogyny and disillusionment are questioned, explored and broken apart at the seams.
